The Department of Immigration and Citizenship strives to continually provide innovative solutions to assist people wanting to enter Australia. As part of this commitment, people wishing to travel to Australia now have a new on-line tool, the Visa Wizard, to assist them in determining which visa or visas best meet their needs.

What is the Visa Wizard?
The Visa Wizard is an exciting web based tool available on the Department of Immigration and Citizenship’s
website which will assist clients to find relevant information on visa options tailored to their specific circumstances.
By answering a limited number of questions the Visa Wizard will return a visa or visas that are most likely to meet
the individual circumstances presented by the client.

What visa sub-classes will be included in the Visa Wizard?
The Visa Wizard will support 57 of the most common visa sub-classes ranging from General Skilled Migration, Working Holiday, Students, Family, Visitor and Temporary Entry. Further visa sub-classes may be added in subsequent releases. A full list of visa subclasses included in the initial release of the Visa Wizard is at ATTACHMENT A

How will clients use the Visa Wizard?
The Visa Wizard will be accessible by clicking on “Visas and Immigration” or “What’s New” sections on our website
at www.immi.gov.au

By answering a few simple questions, the Visa Wizard will check for the most appropriate visa that may satisfy a client’s requirements. Based on this information, clients will be presented with a high level visa summary sheet that includes information presented in a consistent format outlining details on how to apply, fees and charges (converted to local currency), duration of stay, skill requirements etc.

Where multiple visas are presented, the information in the visa summary sheet is presented in a way that provides
for easy comparison by the client to determine the visa that best suits their needs.

Visa Wizard Help
The Visa Wizard offers a number of options for more information or assistance.
  • Learn more - The ‘Learn more’ help text against each question on the Visa Wizard provides an explanation
of the question and further information.
  • Visa Information – Clients can select ‘Visa Information’ for more information on Australian visas from
    our website.
  • Contact Us – Clients have a number of options to choose from in ‘Contact Us’ on our website. These options include obtaining information and contact details for further visa enquiries, reporting any technical difficulties or paying a compliment, complaint or suggestion regarding our services.
Legal Information
The Visa Wizard makes no recommendation to which visa is appropriate for the client or whether they would be granted an Australian visa. Clients may be eligible for visas other than those displayed by the Visa Wizard. The Visa Wizard is not a substitute for the clients own judgement, own inquiries and/or independent advice.

Further legal information will be available on the Visa Wizard and on our website.
